*** WARNING: Liberal hand-wringing alert ***

So hands up who's got a handle on the political stance to take on the bombings of last week? Anti-Semites and Islamophobes need not apply.

Turning away from the horror for just a second, for me, trying to make sense of the newspaper and television coverage and forming my own view has been like looking at one of those magic eye pictures - every time I think I've got it, it slips out of focus again.

Should Blair share some responsibility? Or is Iraq just the fuel firing Osama's campaign for the Great Caliphate?

I'm very sympathetic to Jarndyce's views. He's a very good and thoughtful writer, he's nailed his view early and it's a convincing one.

Taking an opposite view, Councillor Bob has some sensible things to say. And Gary Younge in the Guardian this morning is extremely persuasive for those who are against the war.

In the next few days I'll be linking to various pieces offering different views on the London bombings. None should be construed as reflecting my opinion. I then hope to offer some kind of synthesis for my own satisfacation if nobody else's.

A couple of viewpoints are available from Uponnothing on why the attack happened, and what we should and should not do in response to it.

I've tried to come up with my own faith-based response: London Bombings: Violence for Violence?
